Here is a guide for you, clipped from the official patch notes and from many helpful contributors on a thread in the US forum – many thanks go to those helpful people!

8 Festival Events

Party Pest Control

• Event type: find and defeat
• Start location: Varanas Central Plaza
• Event location: Varanas Gates
• Event Target: Find mice and drive them away with the use of the Flame Altar

Speak to Ajis in central Varanas who will teleport you to the front of Varanas. The idea here is to spam click the fire to get your buff to 100. Mount up and head to the other side of the bridge and select a mouse (preferably with a low number debuff) and use the skill you were given. If your buff is higher than the mouses buff it will say “Squeek!” and give you 1/10. If your debuff is lower than the mouses then it will just subtract the value from the mouse and make you have to get more fire. Do this 10 times and return to Ajir for 1 Fire Festival Voucher. Can be done once per day.

Light the Pyre!

• Event type: Help NPC/Control Fire
• Start location: Thunderhoof Hills, outside Dalanis City
• Event location: Thunderhoof Hills, outside Dalanis City
• Event Target: Control the fire with water and cataylised runes as the NPC wants it

Head outside of Dalanis and speak to the NPC. After doing so click on one of the piles of wood surrounding him. You get given a target intensity to get the fire to. Trouble is, the fire will getting hotter and cooler on its own so it must be controlled by using the two debuffs. The first will throw water on the fire to make it cooler, the fire rune will make it hotter. After the 30 seconds end you have to have the fires temperature to within +/-3 of the target. This will reward you with a voucher regardless of you winning or not, however if you win you will recieve and additional reward of something like pots.

The winning strategy seems to be just to watch the little window on the left side for comparing actual points with target heat and not to care about the warning messages at all…

My rewards for meeting the target were only phirius crap potions so far…

Drive Beast

• Event type: Help NPC, defeat monster
• Start location: Varanas Bridge
• Event location: Dust Devil Canyon
• Event Target: (Group Quest) Defeat the Ice or Fire monster by either assisting NPC or assisting your group.

To do this quest, there are two ways of starting it. You need either 3 x Frost runes or 3 x Flame runes. I’ve no idea where the frost runes come from so I’ll be using the flame runes (received from doing the meat quest). Head to Annie Garcia outside the front of Varanas. Step into the portal behind her and you’ll be teleported to DDC where you should walk into the portal at the waterfall.

Once inside the instance, you will be able to click on a floating rune which will summon Thysdyr and several green NPC’s. Now the idea here is not to direct DPS Thysdyr but to use the skills you get given to buff and remove debuffs from the NPC’s. This quest is better to be done as a group of 6 because its harder to manage the buffs for all the NPC’s.

Skill 1 : remove a debuff.

Skill 2 : remove a debuff.

Skill 3 : gives the NPC much better attack to hurt Thysdyr.

There are two versions of thysdyr you can summon, and two titles attached to the event.

I figure this will be buried far enough in that not too many people will bother reading it. But with the fire and ice runes, you take them outside of varanas to one of the Garcia sisters, who is standing in front of a blue circle of light. Walk into it to be teleported to the other sister who is in Dust Devil Canyon on top of the waterfall in the canyon. She’ll direct you to go behind the waterfall. Doing so will take you to an instance kind of like the quest “things that go bump in the night.”

There are 2 floating runes on the left hand side, one red and one blue. You need 3 of either type of rune (fire or ice) in your bag to start the fight with the boss. It’s recommended that you go with no fewer than 4 people, as this is not a fight of power, but of group strategy using special skills.

For the ice boss, you and your party get a group of skills, the first does damage to the boss; the second removes the ability-disabling debuff from party members; the third draws the attention of the boss; and the fourth prevents him from casting his aoe fear. Basically the idea is to keep firing the damage ability and removing the debuff from your party members whenever it’s off cooldown so you all can keep firing. When you get the notification that he’s absorbing energy for his attack, interrupt it or you’ll be feared for 18sec. Just whittle down his health before 5 minutes is up.

For the fire boss, 4 specter NPCs of the Garcia sisters will appear around him and start casting fireballs at him. Your party needs to split up and each one of you needs to look after your npc. When he debuffs them with the energy absorbing skill, you need to click the first ability to remove it, else it will drain 2% hp from them every 2 seconds. When he casts the ability disabling skill, you need to click the second ability to allow them to cast again. When you see the notification that he’s absorbing energy and needs to be stopped, use the 3rd ability to allow them to silience the boss.You should work on switching between who will cast the first time, and who will cast the second time (for the silence) else the cooldown on it will be too long to interrupt. If he casts his skill without interruption, the NPCs take 30% damage.

When you finish, he’ll drop a bag that contains a blue level 70 accessory with a random yellow VIII stat (better than imprisonment, not better than competition). The bag also contains a rune bag which has xmuted III & IV runes, and a chance of having a mount piece bag; similar to the abyssal nightmare contract, you need to build this 30 day mount. You need 4 pieces ~ fragments I & II, the core and the contract.

Epidemic

• Event type: Cure Monsters
• Start location: Varanas Bridge
• Event location: Silverspring (Around Varanas Gates)
• Event Target: Cure the sick monsters with Flame Powder.
• Event Time: several times a day, check npc…

You get flame powder to remove the disease and traps to hold the animals in place. These are the npcs you have to cure:
Bunny 1 pt
Wolf 5 pts
Bear 10 pts
Unusual pathogen 20 pts and a title if you have not received it yet.

The NPCs require increasing number of powders based on the points they reward. Tip to using the trap, you need to guide the animal to the trap, wait a sec, then back away 2-3 steps, and start casting the powder. You don’t need a trap for the bunnies, so don’t waste them. I might edit this in the future, but this is enough info to start.

Edit 1: The unusual pathogen’s location may not be fixed but I found it twice near peerston farm. If you have a root, or bubble, this can break this event causing you to hit the 40pts mark rather easily. Above 40pts, you get 2 festival vouchers.

Iron Chef

• Event type: Collect Items & Cook
• Start location: Varanas Gates
• Event location: Silverspring – Oblivion Shrine
• Event Target: Collect food in Silverspring and cook it at Varanas Central Plaza

Very simple one. Go kill either Boars or Ostrich around Varanas and collect “Ostrich meat” or “Wild Boar meat”. You only need 1 item to do this quest, but it can be repeated every three hours. Once you have your meat, take it to the cooking pots in central Varanas and click on them. Wait about 2-3 seconds and then press ALT+1 or manually click the skill. You should end up with a cooked item (Items give +15% of a stat and dont stack with much). You should also recieve 2 flame runes for your trouble, these should be collected for another quest called “Drive Beast”. *Note* if you burn the food on purpose you will recieve and event title called “Explosion Master”.

Trying to get the “Iron Chef” title

Title name: Supreme Chef (no additional skills/attribute bonuses)
Description: Successfully cooked all kinds of Silverfall dishes.

Edit: The timing seems to have changed in 2013 (or my lag is bigger than 2 seconds) so be aware that the times mentioned below might be incorrect now!

Boar:
1)Crispy Grilled Boar Steak: HP + 2000 * 10% + 2000 (cook for ~12 seconds)

3)Boar Meat Stew: Magical Attack Power + 2000 * 15% + 2000 (cook for ~7 seconds)
4)Steamed Boar Bun: Physical Defense + 5000 * 11% + 5000 (cook for ~4-5 seconds)
5)Stir-Fried Boar Meat: Magical Defense + 5000 * 11% + 5000 (cook for ~2 seconds)
6)Fresh Boar Steak: MP + 2000 * 10% + 2000 (cook for ~0 seconds)

Ostrich:
1)Crispy Grilled Ostrich Wing: All attributes + 75 * 10% + 75 (cook for ~12 seconds)
2)Crisp Ostrich Meal: Strength + 100 * 15% + 100 (cook for ~8 seconds)
3)Stewed Ostrich Wing: Dexterity + 100 * 15% + 100 (cook for ~7 seconds)
4)Ostrich Sandwich: Stamina + 100 * 15% + 100 (cook for ~4-5 seconds)
5)Steamed Ostrich Bun: Intelligence + 100 * 15% + 100 (cook for ~2 seconds)
6)Rare Ostrich Steak: Wisdom + 100 * 15% + 100 (cook for ~0 seconds)

Here is my note could be useful : second number is the time I wait before pressing the skill. I have right now the title.

Note the last one is not easy as you explode half of the time

So I made this guide for myself to focus on what I want to cook for which char. Hope it helps others. I have gotten 2 titles in the cooking event, supreme chef, and explosion master. There might be more cause I keep running into other titles the more I do events. There are 3 fire levels, to enter the late recipe just count 1 one-thousand, 2 one-thousand, then put out the fire.

Ostrich Meat:
Lvl 1 early – Rare Ostrich Steak (Wis + 100) x 15% + 100 for 30 mins
Lvl 1 late – Steamed Ostrich Bun (Int + 100) x 15% + 100 for 30 mins
Lvl 2 early – Ostrich Sandwich (Stam + 100) x 15% + 100 for 30 mins
Lvl 2 late – Stewed Ostrich Wing (Dex + 100) x 15% + 100 for 30 mins
Lvl 3 early – Crisp Ostrich Meal (Str + 100) x 15% + 100 for 30 mins
Lvl 3 late – Crispy Grilled Ostrich Wing (all attributes + 75) x 10% + 75 for 30 mins

Boar Meat:
Lvl 1 early – Fresh Boar Steak Increase Max MP = (HP + 2000) x 10% + 2000 for 30 mins
Lvl 1 late – Stir-fried Boar meat (M.Def + 5000) x 11% + 5000 for 30 mins
Lvl 2 early – Steamed Boar Bun (P.Def + 5000) x 11% + 5000 for 30 mins
Lvl 2 late – Boar Meat Stew (M.Attk + 2000) x 15% + 2000 for 30 mins
Lvl 3 early – Smoked Boar Meat (P.Attk + 2000) x 15% + 2000 for 30 mins
Lvl 3 late – Crispy Grilled Boar Steak (Max Hp + 2000) x 10% + 2000 for 30 mins

Flame Fortune

• Event type: Help NPC/Collecting Points
• Event location: Taborea
• Event Target: Collect Runes in the Magic Circle and throw them at the Altar.

Starts every 4 hours at half past the hour, and requires you to sign up 10 minutes prior to participate. There is a teleporter on the Varanas bridge (50,78) that will take you to the event location up at Oblivion shrine, but will do so only once per day.

Once you have signed up for the event, you need to move to the flame altar that will be behind you when you port in. Around it on the ground will be a glowing circle of rotating (flower petals?) inside a ring of musical notes; you need to be within this circle when the event begins, and cannot leave it until it’s over or you will be disqualified. (For those that are wondering about the time shifts… since it happens on 3 different channels, the first event notification is for channel one, the second is channel 2, the third is for channel 3… they begin and end within 30 seconds of each other).

The object here is when the event begins, floating runestones will appear randomly around the circle, and you need to pick one up, move close to the altar and throw it in. For each successful toss, you are given 1 or 2 points, and for each unsuccessful toss, you are subtracted one point. This is completely random as to it being + or – or how many points you get. Also, if you make an unsuccessful toss, a 4 second countdown begins, and when it ends, anyone near you will also suffer a deduction in points.

When the event ends, go back to the person you signed up with to collect your reward. Higher scores result in getting a buff pot (eg. wit elixir) in addition to the 1 Fire Rune, 1 Ice rune & 1 Festival Voucher. You need +20 points or more to earn the “highscore” title.

Rune Chessboard

• Event type: mini-game
• Start location: Next to bridge in front of Varanas
• Event Target: Align one or more lines of crystals of the same color

In the beginning the board consists of a grid of uncolored crystals. After 60 sec waiting you can colour up these cyrstals to red, blue or yellow by clicking (or alt-1) with the icon in the lower middle of the screen. If you close a line with at least 3 pieces of equal colour they blow up and become colourless again and u get 1 point for each popped crystal.

This mini game can be done solo or with a group, the latter is actually lotsa fun IMO.

Tip: Use your ride while doin it, its faster that way. Again IMO 🙂

Reward is a festival voucher and 2 flame runes which u get automatically if u make 3 points at least.

Ignite the Holy Fire Altar

• – Event type: mini-game
• – Start location: Next to bridge in front of Varanas
• – Event Sequence:
• Event commences daily at 12:30am, 4:30am, 8:30am, 12:30pm, 4:30pm, 8:30pm, registration begins 10 minutes before the event commences.
• Register, hop into one chariot and drive along the line of altars that need to get ignited

Seems to be bugged ATM , no chariots there…
